This event and meeting planning course is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of planning a wide range of events.

Here you’ll get a thorough understanding of how events work, why people and companies host events, how the industry is configured, & how to strategically plan & coordinate a typical event from A to Z.

This course covers the role of events in today’s world. budgets & goals, workflow management, venue selection and negotiation, room layouts and seating formats, food and beverage, entertainment and speakers, design and decor, transportation and logistics, registration and check-in, hybrid and virtual meetings, using apps and technology, basic lighting, audio visual and more.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand how to create an event that achieves specific objectives for the host/client.
  2. Design a planning process that incorporates budgeting, project management, communication and evaluation tools.
  3. Have an understanding of the various event elements (food and beverage, design, entertainment, site selection, etc.) and how to cost-effectively employ them.
  4. Understand the role of the planner on site at the event, and the mindset necessary to oversee successful event coordination.

 

About Instructor

Nicole_halton

Nicole Halton has been a professional event planner for 13 years. Nicole  is currently director of corporate events for Disney/ABC Television Group. For 8 years, she has been leading and collaborating on major events throughout the country for ABC Network, Disney and ABC Family Sales. Nicole is also currently an Adjunct Professor at NYU, teaching an Introduction to Special Events class as well a Instructor at Event Leadership Institute teaching Event & Meeting Management Fundamentals . She was also nominated for Corporate Event Planner of the Year from BizBash magazine in 2012.

She previously served as events director at SPARTY!, a full service event marketing company that creates and executes custom spa experiences. There, she planned events for clients including Shaquille O’Neal, Vogue magazine and The Emmy Awards. She also worked at GM R* Works, the exclusive sales promotion agency of General Motors, where she worked events including the NCAA, NFL, PGA, NBA, NASCAR, MLB, Tribeca Film Festival, EssenceMusic Festival, Fashion Rocks, and the ESPY Awards.
